Our hunts are capable of meeting the needs and comforts of nearly any hunter.  The more time you spend in the stand, the better your opportunity will be of harvesting a truly trophy animal.  Our guides are highly skilled in locating, attracting, and keeping the hogs coming back to your bait sites.

Types of Wild Hog Hunting at T&M:

  • Still hunting from tree stand, box blind or ground blind.

  • Hog hunting over bait.

  • Night hunting over lighted feeders.

YOUR GUIDE WILL WORK HARD AND TIPS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Wild Hog Hunting Tips:

  • Plan Ahead – Consider the weather, and what type of weapon you want to use. North Carolina allows hog hunting year round and at night with lights attached to the feeders. If you are hunting during the hot months of the year, you may need to consider using unscented bug spray to keep the “red bugs”, aka “chiggers” from hunting you! Therma Cells are a must when hunting the swamps of Johnston County. The mosquitos thrive in these wet, swampy areas.

  • As for weapon, that is the hunter's choice. The wild hog has a thick protection plate surrounding the kill area, and you'll need a gun or weapon powerful enough to penetrate the thick shoulder blade and gristle. Consult with your pro hog hunting guide about the best type of weapon and caliber to use during your hunt.

  • Scouting – Your pro hog hunting guide will pre-scout each bait site the day prior to your arrival. Scouting cameras are in place and used to monitor bait sites.  These cameras and bait sites are checked the day prior to your arrival and you will be placed at the most frequented bait sites. We have about 15 active bait sites which are checked weekly and replenished with plenty of food to keep the hogs tending these sites regularly.

Think Safety – The farm yard pig is a far cry from a true wild boar! Many of these wild hogs are:

  • Descended from true Wild Russian Boar and can be very dangerous, especially if there are young hogs around. The tusks are very sharp and the hogs are capable of vicious attacks! When hunting wild boar, use caution when approaching a downed boar.

  • Wild Hogs have a powerful sense of smell. Hide human odors just like you would if you were hunting whitetail deer with a bow.

  • If you are hog hunting purely for meat, don’t go for the big boar. The smaller 200 pound hogs are much tastier than the big hogs. A large male boar has a very gamey taste.
